Faith In Practice Medical Missions

Living in Houston, Texas, we are home to the Texas Medical Center, and are blessed with access to some of the best medical institutions and healthcare this nation has to offer. Sadly, many of our world neighbors live in poverty with virtually no access to medical care, a circumstance that is particularly true in Guatemala. But there is hope for our Guatemalan brothers and sisters. Faith In Practice (FIP), a long-time Global Mission Partner of MDPC, is committed to serving them through short-term medical mission trips that reach those in greatest need.

In late April, a surgical team and support volunteers went on a medical mission trip to Obras Sociales de Santo Hermano Pedro, a hospital in Antigua, Guatemala. Led by MDPC members Dr. Gary Card and Dr. Jane Ann Smeck, the team included 11 doctors of varied specialties, nurses a translator, cooks (MDPC members Mary Card and Nancy and Jerry Blurton), administrators, and Reverend Kristin Huffman.
