Connection with Compassion – This week Faith in Practice Medical Clinic Estes Team 890 has connected with the Guatemalan community and provided medical care with love, compassion, and humility.
It is important to say thank you again to our families, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who have supported each volunteer serving and giving of their time and gifts here this week. Because of each of you, we have been able to provide needed medical care, serve with compassion, and provide hope.
The week is ending for Team 890. We will see our last patient today. This week our Team has provided general family medicine, pediatric, gynecology, orthopedic, lab work, diagnostic radiology services including ultrasound, well-woman preventative care, as well as our pharmacy team staying busy filling prescriptions for patients. We have seen babies, young children, adults, and the sweetest elderly patients.
The Mobility Clinic changed lives for patients by providing wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches. The wheelchair assembly team built over 120 wheelchairs this week! The OT/PTs encouraged and trained each patient and family on their new mobility equipment. You should see the smiles when they leave the clinic! I heard a story today about a sweet, precious patient who received a wheelchair and she was so excited because now she had the mobility she needed to go to church.
We hugged and healed patients this week. We laughed and blew bubbles with children. We cried tears of joy and tears of sadness. Today is an emotional day. I feel deeply honored and grateful to have witnessed Team 890 deliver medical care with genuine kindness, love, compassion, and humility—and to be able to share this experience with you. Faith in Practice is making an impact in Guatemala.
Much love from Estes Team 890,
