Day Three: Serving the Lord in All We Do

We began our day gathered in devotion, led by team member Jeff Cole. He shared a powerful reminder from Colossians 3:23–27:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

This scripture set the tone for the day, encouraging us to approach each moment, every task, every interaction with diligence and purpose, knowing that our true service is unto the Lord.

At the clinic, we met a remarkable family whose story touched all of us deeply. Siblings Leonardo (39) and Maria (43) arrived with their mother and a friend. Both are nonverbal, unable to walk or stand, and have been living with undiagnosed mobility challenges for the past seven years. Mysteriously, their symptoms began at the same time, and their condition remains unknown.

Their mother, their full-time caregiver, carries the weight of their daily needs while their father works long hours to support the family. Today, we had the privilege of helping lift part of that burden. Our occupational therapist gently taught their mother how to safely transfer Leonardo and Maria from a seated position and how to care for and brake their new GEN_3 wheelchairs. Watching her learn and engage with such determination was humbling.

Before they left, we gathered around this beautiful family, shared a message of God’s love, and prayed over them. While we wish we could do even more, we trust that the gift of mobility will open new doors—perhaps even the possibility of an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

It was a long day, but a good one—marked by both hard work and deep joy. God is clearly at work, not only in the logistics of the clinic, but in the hearts of those we are serving and serving alongside.

Tonight, we’ll cheer on both of our countries during the Guatemala vs. USA soccer match and then rest up for our final clinic day tomorrow.

Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. Our team feels your support with every step!
