Faith in Practice – 2026
Day 4 Blog:
Did you notice THEIR?
“When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” — Mark 2:5
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” — Helen Keller
“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” — Walter Winchell
One of the most remarkable parts of this story is a single word that is often overlooked: their.
When the four friends lowered the paralyzed man through the roof, Scripture says Jesus saw their faith. We might expect it to say Jesus saw the paralytic’s faith and then the miracle happened.
But Jesus saw the faith of the friends who carried him.
Sometimes our faith carries others when their faith is weak. Sometimes our prayers lift someone who feels stuck. Sometimes our presence reminds someone that God has not forgotten them. God often works through communities of people who believe, support, and carry one another.
We see that every day at the Faith in Practice clinic. Families bring loved ones who cannot come on their own. Volunteers support one another through long days and emotional moments. And this week our team experienced it personally after the tragic and unexpected loss of one of our volunteers. In moments like these, we remember that faith is something we carry together.
Sometimes the miracle begins long before someone meets Jesus. Sometimes it begins with people who simply refuse to leave someone behind.
Every day at this clinic we see physical healing begin—new wheelchairs, medical treatment, restored health. But we also see something else: dignity restored, hope renewed, and people reminded that they are seen and loved.
All because someone cared enough to carry them.
Who has carried you in the past?
And who are you carrying today?
Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for the people whose faith has carried me through difficult times. Help me to lift others, encourage others, and bring others closer to you. Amen.
