Day 5 The Family..
The Clegg 907 team is very much a family. Figuratively and literally. This year, the team contains two husband and wife duos as well as a mother/son duo. Some other members of the team have been here before with members of their family as well.
Some of us have worked together for so long that we may as well be family. Some of us used to work together and dont anymore, but still feel like family. This week, we have laughed together, cried together and spent nearly every waking hour together.
We have celebrated two birthdays during this trip. And are already sad about going home and not seeing each other again until next year. Some of us have already made plans to see one another before the next trip. Others will go back to work together on Monday.
We all have our own families back home and miss them terribly. But spending the week with this group doing what we are doing makes it better. Seeing the patients smiling after surgery, walking without pain, and heading home with their own families fills our hearts with joy.
After a successful week of surgeries, tonight we have our celebration dinner together. We eat together like one big family. And whether each team member has been here multiple times, or this is their first mission; they are now part of The Family.
