Day 5:
Throughout this week, I have been reminded of many key points that many often look past in everyday life such as: the importance of kindness, strength, discipleship, and the power of one singular decision. With all that being said, however, the people and the relationships built from this trip stood out most of all.
Right from the start of the trip, I immediately realized that our group was special. We all shared a common purpose of serving others. Regardless of the worries and distractions we might have been facing prior to the trip, we set them aside for a cause greater than ourselves. Through long days, upset stomachs from street meat, and unexpected moments of laughter, we became more than just a team- but a family.
As I am now traveling home, I am bringing more than just memories back, but a whole new perspective on life. The kindness we display, the strength we reflect, and our faith that we rely on all have the power to shift someone’s trajectory. This mission trip reminded me that every single person matters, and sometimes the most effective thing that one can do is simply make someone feel loved and seen. I am so beyond grateful for this opportunity.
