Hello readers! We have arrived in Guatemala! Well… most of us, a few are stuck in Miami due to weather and airline staffing, but will be joining us soon! Most of the group met in Houston to fly to Guatemala city together; there were plenty of new people to meet and familiar faces to catch up with.
The team consists of a team director and administrator, surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and a blogger/photographer. Before I get any further along, allow me to introduce myself. I am Elizabeth (Ellie) Meyer, and I am the blogger and photographer for the Preston Team here in Antigua, Guatemala. For some in this group, it is their first time on a mission (including myself), and others have been doing this for longer than I have been alive! It is truly remarkable what these dedicated people have accomplished over the years. All of us were able to take a break from our bustling life at home to come to help those in need.
Once we arrived at the Guatemala City Airport, the team boarded busses to Antigua where we were greeted by the kind hotel staff and ate a delicious dinner. After all the excitement of traveling to Antigua, everyone was pretty tired and headed to bed. Tomorrow is orientation day, and some more time to get organized and settled before the excitement begins.
