Daily Mission Update: Triage Day

Today was our day of clinic, and it was a busy, productive start to our week of surgical care. Our team ran a triage clinic, and by the end of the day we had evaluated approximately 50 patients—each one with their own story, their own needs, and their own hopes for healing.

From those visits, we were able to schedule about 32 patients for surgery in the coming days.

Dr. Apel and Dr. Bravo began the morning by seeing the pediatric patients together, ensuring each child received the careful, collaborative assessment they deserved. Once the pediatric cases were completed, the surgeons divided into separate rooms to care for the adult patients, allowing us to keep up with the high volume of people who had been waiting to be seen.

We evaluated a wide range of conditions today. Some patients came to us with simple concerns, such as ganglion cysts and other minor masses. Others presented with significant injuries and complex conditions—cases that have affected their daily lives for years due to limited access to specialty care.

Despite the long day, the energy within the clinic felt purposeful. Every patient we evaluated brings us one step closer to restoring mobility, relieving pain, and improving quality of life. We are grateful to be here, grateful for the trust these patients place in us, and grateful for the opportunity to begin changing lives—one evaluation, one surgery, and one story at a time.
