Our First Full Day of Surgeries

Today marked an important milestone on our trip: our first full day of surgery, and the first time an orthopaedic team has operated at Hospital Hilario Galindo. It was a busy, meaningful day—one that reminded us exactly why we are here.

Our two surgeons worked tirelessly from morning until evening. We completed 8 total surgeries today. Of these, six were pediatric patients with congenital hand deformities. For many of these children, today offered the first real chance at improved function, confidence, and independence.

The day moved quickly as our team transitioned from one case to the next, making sure each patient received safe, compassionate, and individualized care. While the schedule was full, the atmosphere in the operating rooms was calm, focused, and filled with purpose.

Today was busy—but truly, it was a major blessing. Each surgery represented a family’s hope, a child’s future, and a life changed through access to care that many here have never had before. We are grateful to serve, grateful for this opportunity, and grateful to be part of something so special at Hospital Hilario Galindo.
