Day 2 – Triage day

Our mission trip began with a moment that grounded us all in gratitude and reflection. We gathered to celebrate Bob’s life – a man whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit touched so many. Stories of his impact filled the air, each one a reminder of the legacy he leaves behind. One of the most moving moments was watching his son honor him by spreading his ashes at a meaningful tree, a place that now holds even deeper significance. It was a powerful reminder that love and purpose continue long after someone is gone.

Clinic day arrived quickly, and with it came a wave of patients and stories that will stay with us forever. The day was busy, but every interaction felt meaningful. Each patient carried not just a medical need, but a story—some filled with hardship, others with resilience and hope. There were moments that brought tears, moments that brought smiles, and many that reminded us exactly why we came. As the day came to a close, the team shifted gears, working together to prepare the operating rooms for the surgeries ahead. The energy was focused, purposeful, and full of quiet determination.

Even in the midst of such impactful work, we found moments to step outside and take in the beauty around us. Walking through the vibrant streets of Guatemala, we were able to appreciate the culture, the colors, and the warmth of the community. It was a gentle balance serving during the day while still embracing the experience of being present in such a beautiful place. These moments allowed us to recharge, reflect, and carry even more gratitude into the days ahead.
