Reflections, Gratitude, and Answered Prayers

Dr. Oluwagbenga (Ben) Adesope, CEO

Dear Faith In Practice Family,

As the weather cools and the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting more deeply than ever and feel overwhelmed! Not by the weight of the work, but by the incredible wonder of God’s goodness! There have been moments this year that have brought me to my knees. Not in defeat but in awe! In awe of God’s faithfulness, God’s provision, and in awe of prayers answered in ways only God could orchestrate.

At our Salt & Light Gala, we gathered with faith and expectation. But what took place was more than a fundraiser; it was a testimony. Laughter rang out, tears were shed, prayers were whispered, and by the end of the night, over $900,000 had been raised to advance the mission. But the true miracle wasn’t in the amount raised. It was in the room, in hearts united, donors, volunteers, staff, board members, and supporters, each moved by the program moments in which God touched their hearts. Towards the end of the Gala, I was again overwhelmed by tears, not from pressure, but from promises fulfilled and prayers answered. That ballroom had become an altar. A place where the presence of God was so near you could feel it settle over the tables like grace.

The very next morning, at our Rise & Lead Leadership Conference, I stood before our team of leaders, the unsung heroes who serve not for applause or accolades but from their calling to serve. Together, we opened scripture and were led by Dr. James Tour, a world-renowned scientist and man of deep faith who reminded us of what true surrender looks like. His simple presence was also a divinely answered prayer as we truly could not afford his presence. That day reminded us that we are not just individuals within a nonprofit. We are disciples on mission, each one called to reflect the light of God in our work, our leadership, our love.

Faith In Practice is not just a ministry, it is a living, breathing testimony to the faithfulness of God, and the faithful hearts who carry it forward. To our volunteers, you stepped into the unknown and became the hands and feet of Christ. You said yes to discomfort so others could say yes to life. To our Guatemalan partners, you show up, every day, in every storm, in every joy, embodying God’s compassion and courage. To our donors, your generosity is more than financial, it is sacrificial, eternal, and life changing. To our board and staff, you carry this mission with integrity, prayer, and perseverance. You are the quiet backbone of a bold calling.

I often think of a volunteer I met recently in Guatemala. With tears in her eyes, she whispered, “I didn’t know I needed this until I came.” That’s what God does, He meets us in the mission we think we’re giving away… and gives something far greater in return.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Psalm 126:3

Through every trial, we still stand. From volcanic eruptions to earthquakes, to the death of our loved ones, from uncertainty to unexpected provision, God has preserved this work. We are not untouched by hardship, but we are unshaken, because the One who called us remains faithful. So, as we close the year 2025, I invite you to pause with me. Let us not rush past the miracles. Let us sit in the stillness of gratitude. Let us remain tender enough to be moved, obedient enough to be sent.

Where have you seen God move? What prayers has He answered through this ministry? What new prayers is He asking you to lift?

Can we pray for or with you? If we can pray for you, walk with you, or lift you up in this season, please let us know at prayer@faithinpractice.org.

With a full and grateful heart, I say, thank you! Not just for what you do, but for who you are in these miraculous stories we are living together.

Love you all!

In God’s Service,
