Patron Saint of Drivers
July 25 is the Feast Day of St. Christopher (San Cristobal in Spanish), the patron saint of travelers and drivers. St. Christopher was a martyr who lived in 3rd century Rome. According to legend, he was more than 7 ft. tall and after he converted to Christianity, he devoted his life to helping travelers cross a dangerous river where people once perished. One day, he helped an unknown boy to cross the river. This boy then revealed himself to be Jesus. Hence, St. Christopher became known as the patron of travelers and is usually depicted carrying the Christ child on his shoulders.
On the Feast Day of St. Christopher, we celebrated and gave thanks to the amazing Faith In Practice drivers—Hector and Carlos—and warehouse staff—Bryan, Hugo, Walter, and Aurelio—who work tirelessly behind the scenes transporting supplies, medication, and food to the hospitals and clinic sites for our teams. Anyone who has traveled in Guatemala understands the skill it takes to safely navigate the precarious streets. We are so grateful for our drivers’ talents and their dedication—for the hours spent on the roads making sure our mission teams have the supplies they need for a successful mission.
