Day 5
As we gathered this morning, there was a shared realization among all of us: the week we had anticipated for so long had somehow flown by. We knew it would happen—everyone told us it would—but it still felt surprising to be standing on our final day in clinic.
Despite the emotions that come with wrapping up, the team approached the day with the same energy and commitment as day one. Each clinic worked tirelessly, seeing every patient who came through and treating each person with the same respect, dignity, and kindness as the last. There was no slowing down, no easing up—only a continued dedication to serve well մինչև the very end.
As the day drew to a close, we began the process of packing up the clinic. There’s something bittersweet about that moment—carefully putting away the tools and supplies that have been part of such meaningful work all week. We finished a little earlier than usual, which gave us the opportunity to gather with the Red Hat volunteers. Their contribution to this week cannot be overstated. They moved constantly—escorting patients, coordinating flow, and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Their energy, kindness, and reliability made a tremendous difference, and we were grateful for the chance to thank them in person.
Back at the hotel, we had a brief window of downtime—a moment to pause, reflect, and begin processing all that we’ve experienced together. Soon after, we came together again for a celebratory dinner. It was a special evening, filled with laughter, gratitude, and heartfelt words. Each of us received a certificate, but more importantly, each person took time to recognize a fellow volunteer. The affirmations shared were genuine and moving, highlighting the unique strengths and contributions of every team member.
There is something powerful about serving alongside people who not only work hard but also care deeply—for the patients, for the mission, and for each other. This week has strengthened not just our skills, but our relationships.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served together.
