Day 4
“Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed”. Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.”
Matthew 9:20-22
This week I’ve learned and have witnessed what perseverance and persistence looks like.
Today I heard the story of a mother who traveled 6 hours to get a wheelchair for her child. I spoke with a man whose journey to get home would take him 7 hours by bus. He came to get two new canes to replace what he had been using for walking assistance, and was grateful. He’s had limited mobility for 8 years and came to the clinic alone. I spoke with the sister of a 40 year old special needs patient. They traveled an hour to get to the clinic. The patient’s sister found out about the clinic from a relative, and stated she came the day prior to get more information. Determined to help her sister, they both returned today so they could receive a wheelchair.
The people in the stories highlighted above had faith. They had faith that if they traveled to the Mobility Clinic in San Pedro Carcha, they would receive assistance. They believed traveling the long distances was worth it.
This reminds us to live intentionally, and stay in faith even when we have every reason to give up. I’m reminded to stay steadfast in challenges and adversity. This clinic has been life changing for many people.
How can we all go the extra mile in our faith?
