After a wonderful breakfast, the crew sat down and got a brief rundown of the week. Everyone got to know each other a bit further and expressed a few words about why they do mission work. We then traveled to our hotel for the week, had lunch, and relaxed for the busy week ahead. After a much-needed nap or other downtime activities, it was time for dinner. Which of course, was wonderful, the food and the conversation. Shortly after dinner, everyone went off to sleep to prepare to triage day tomorrow.
While today was not filled with exciting and new activities, it was well-liked by the team. It also gave our other team members, who are still stuck in Miami, some more time to travel here! Below are a few words from some of our team members about why they do mission work and here in Guatemala.

Karen Preston: “Being able to bring you all here to serve others is an honor and a privilege.”
Lata: “Every time I come here, I feel so humbled by the people that come, the Guatemalan people, and the beauty of this place. I find it restorative, and I am grateful to be here. I also feel like it is the highlight of my career is to do this kind of work, without transaction, we care about other humans.”
Edgar Perez: “What I hope to get out of this is an enrichment of life and experiences and to provide the best care possible.”
Jennifer: “I have always wanted to do this, and this became a prime opportunity. I am honored to be on this trip; people point me in the right direction because this is my first mission trip, and I hope it’s not my last. I want to give up myself both for others and my well-being.”
Paul Preston: “My goal for this week is to give some high-quality, safe care and look at the world a little bit differently by the end of the week.”
