Day 3- Empowerment through Mobility
Today we met 29 patients~early morning with an abundance of heavy needs, being carried in by family members. It’s heartfelt to witness the caregivers pouring their love and devotion thru commitment to sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, and grandparents—is a powerful reminder of what unconditional love looks like.
Receiving a wheelchair or other mobility equipment is more than meeting a physical need. It eases the daily burden on caregivers, restores dignity, creates independence, and opens the door to opportunities that once seemed out of reach.
As each family moved through the clinic, it was impossible not to reflect on how limited resources can be for so many people in Guatemala. Their resilience, gratitude, and unwavering faith have a way of putting life’s everyday worries into.
They begin this journey with faith deeply rooted in their hearts, trusting that God is already at work. Through every act of compassion, every volunteer, and every mobility device provided, hope is made tangible.

Martha Coz’s Journey
Martha is 57 years old, and as she shared her story, I couldn’t help but admire her faith and resilience. What began as a wound on her right foot eventually became a severe infection that spread to the bone in her leg. Despite seeking care, the infection progressed, and Martha ultimately lost her leg.
It’s hard to imagine how much life changed for her in an instant. Everyday activities that many of us take for granted became difficult, and simply moving safely from one place to another became a daily challenge.
It was a blessing to provide Martha with a wheelchair that will help her move with greater safety, stability, and independence. Watching her receive this gift was a powerful reminder that sometimes what seems like a simple piece of equipment can restore confidence, dignity, and freedom.
Serving on this mission has shown me that God doesn’t always perform miracles in the ways we expect. Sometimes He works through willing hands, compassionate hearts, and simple acts of love that remind someone they are not forgotten. It is about restoring hope. It was about reminding Martha that she is seen, valued, and deeply loved by God.
Martha was a blessing; her courage, her perseverance, and her quiet strength challenged my own faith. I pray that every time she uses her wheelchair, she will be reminded that God is walking beside her, carrying her through every challenge and surrounding her with His unfailing love.
Today, God didn’t just change Martha’s day—He changed mine.

Meet Dolores
Some moments will stay with you forever, and meeting Dolores was one of them~She is “God’s Wink” through her simplicity of wanting mobility from a walker that would give stability to move normal and not feel dependent~ ❤️🇬🇹
Dolores is 14 years old and lives with spina bifida. When she first came into our clinic, she was quiet and reserved, with an expression that showed both uncertainty and hope. She didn’t know what to expect or how our team might be able to help.
Dolores has depended on others to carry her from place to place. She hadn’t experienced the freedom of moving on her own or walking beside her family and friends. When asked if she would prefer a wheelchair or a walker, her answer was clear. She chose the walker because she wanted the chance to walk independently and experience life with greater freedom.
Watching Dolores take those first steps was something I’ll never forget. Her smile said everything. It was filled with pride, confidence, gratitude, and hope. In that moment, I wasn’t just seeing a young girl learning to use a walker—I was witnessing a life changed by the opportunity to move forward on her own.
Seeing her walk beside her family instead of being carried was incredibly moving. This walker represents so much more than mobility. It offers greater independence, supports her physical development, helps reduce the discomfort of spending so much time lying down, and opens the door to experiences many of us take for granted.
Dolores reminded me that sometimes the greatest gifts aren’t measured by what we give, but by the hope, dignity, and confidence they help restore.
