“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body.  And be thankful.” — Colossians 3:15

“Whenever possible, choose peace.”  — Donna Goddard

Yesterday, a Guatemalan man named Caesar approached me while we were working in the wheelchair clinic. He started talking and then immediately was filled with emotion and began to cry. What a cry baby!  And then I began to cry! I knew exactly what he wanted to communicate to me.  He was so appreciative of our efforts to help his Guatemalan people.  It reminded me when I talked to my mom’s caretakers before she died.  Every time I talked with them, I was filled with emotion and gratitude.  We love those who love our loved ones, don’t we?  Caesar actually received his bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Aeronautical Science in Florida.  But he wanted to return to Guatemala to help his people.  He started a Guatemalan volunteer organization called, “Manos a la Obra” (Hands at Work).  Several of them helped throughout our Faith In Practice clinic.  Their motto is “Juntos nos cuidamos mas,” which means, “Together we can care more for each other.”  I am grateful for their willing hands at work to help us care more.  I am very grateful for Faith in Practice — their mission and passion, and for the opportunity to bring peace and healing to people in need.  I am also grateful for our team members and their willingness to share time and talent to serve the people of Guatemala.  Together, we truly can care more!

What are you thankful for?

Prayer:  Hey God, thank you for all the servants who care for your children.  Help us work together more to enable us to care more.  Amen.
